Warped Tour ….

So the Warped Tour stopped at Merriweather Post Pavilion and it was hot…literally and figuratively of course ….  The bands were great, the kids were happy and the sun was shining bright.  It was the perfect day to get out and mingle with the masses.  Since Perfect Organics has been part of the “Girlz Garage” on this year’s tour, we were eager to go (finally!) meet our contacts from “Keep A Breast” (www.keepabreast.org) and see what the response has been to our incredible organic body care products.  You know it’s a good sign when you arrive in a Perfect Organics logo t-shirt and hear “I wear that shirt all the time! I love your body wash! The shimmers are amazing!” …. We were very impressed with the organization of the Warped Tour and the general mellow vibe that somehow existed despite some loud bass and crazy dancing.  The Girlz Garage is a cool mix of breast cancer prevention information, funky jewelry and gear and goodies by various sponsors.  Erica, Katie, Jessica and the tent coordinator Michelle deserve much praise for keeping the energy fresh and engaging despite the heat and tiring schedule. 

Obviously there is a lot to do and see at a Warped Tour show and we only scratched the surface in our afternoon visit.  I was personally excited to check out the Eco-Initiative sponsored by EarthEcho  International (our partner organization) and see what the volunteers had amassed in terms of plastic (exhale) bottles.  It’s estimated that only 5% of plastic bottles world-wide are recycled.  The efforts of the Eco-Initiative staff members and volunteers were impressive, however, the thought that an individual still doesn’t realize the need to recycle plastic by themselves is appalling.  Teaching recycling has got to become mainstreamed in our early childhood education if we want to have water ways with marine life and not floating plastic bottles.

We took video footage and conducted interviews with some performers and stage crew folks at the show.  We’ll be sure to post the vlog once it’s properly edited and ready for viewing!

And the beat goes on…
