Summer News ...

Hello Friends,

Summer is in full-swing in northern Virginia with lotuses growing in the pond outside our office and our CSA producing lots of great ecoganic vegetables for us to enjoy.  At Perfect Organics, we enjoy the spring & summer because we can go the full work day (and then some) without turning on a light in our office due to really large, double paned glass windows that create a pleasant fishbowl atmosphere and provide plenty of natural light.  We also enjoy summer because more and more stores carry our organic cotton – eco-dyed t-shirts which allows us to support organic cotton grown & manufactured in the USA.  Just this week, a store we love in Montréal ordered quite a few of our shirts … the message we got?  American – Canadian relations at PO HQ are solid and stable.

Speaking of North America, some parts of the continent have experienced the harsh effects of the global climate crisis.  Our thoughts go out to those in North America, Europe and other parts of the world where the global climate crisis has unleashed its wrath- stories of illness and death due to dehydration and inadequate facilities to accommodate the needs of people & animals suffering from record-high temperatures again open our eyes to the need to make individual and collective choices that recognize the infallible repercussions of global warming.

Lastly, and on a very positive note, we’re excited to share some news regarding our partner organizations.

  • Philippe Cousteau, of EarthEcho International, will appear on Larry King Live on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 to talk about sharks, in anticipation of Discovery Channel's Shark Week. 9:00 pm ET on CNN.

  • Farm Sanctuary is hosting its annual Gala for the Animals on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.  To learn more about the event and ways in which you can support the good work of Farm Sanctuary, please visit http://farmsanctuary.org/gala/2007/

Green Up ... Take 1!

Hello Friends!

It’s a big day for Perfect Organics as this is our first step into the blogosphere … thanks for leaving some space for us.  We’re delighted to be here.  Our blog has been on the to-do list for awhile now so it feels good to finally have a forum that allows us to dialogue with the outside world.   Now that we’ve exchanged formalities, let’s move on to the good stuff….

Perfect Organics has grown considerably in the past few years and we’re grateful to everyone that’s helped to make that happen--- customers, stores, partner organizations, friends, family, etc … you know who you are …  I’m going to stop before this turns into an acceptance speech for an award we’ve yet to win…

Part of what makes Perfect Organics unique as a company is our absolute commitment to what the academics are referring to as “karma capitalism”.  We truly believe that each moment offers us a choice; an opportunity to respond to the world we inhabit in a way that promotes respect, peace, justice, and compassion.  With Perfect Organics and our product offerings, we have an incredible opportunity to live out our belief that sustainability and luxury are not mutually exclusive.  Furthermore, we feel we have an obligation to positively impact our planet and, of course, the living beings on the planet.  This is an endeavor to which we are 100% committed and we are excited to share our evolution with you. So, please, comment as you see fit.  Your thoughts and suggestions will only make us more aware and in tune with our surroundings.

The blog will also be an opportunity to learn a little bit more about the hardworking crew at Perfect Organics and for us to share relevant eco-inspired information.  Besides posting information on our amazing products, general green news, and the latest inspirations, we’ll also clue you into the behind the scenes at Perfect Organics, which is just as fresh and clean as our body care line! You’ll hear mentions of Charles’ band’s performances, Tina’s dance recitals, Christa’s latest short story, and Debra’s ongoing journey to create an incredible work environment while developing the next Perfect Organics offering.  And, because I’ve never been shy, I may share my latest mantra, or , if we get really crafty, perform a monologue or two on streamed video.

In the meantime, take care of yourself ... and each other ….

Amanda
